Get to Know Stokke—And Why Your Baby Should, Too | Richmond Moms

Have you heard of Stokke, the Scandinavian brand that is designing better products that strengthen the bond between babies and parents? Not only are these beautiful pieces manufactured to be completely safe and ergonomic (for both children and parents!), but they’re designed to help babies and kids develop properly and bring families closer together.

As moms, our team naturally became aware of Stokke—we were already fans of their highchairs (including their iconic Tripp Trapp model), and their sturdy, easy-to-use and attractive cribsstrollers, and other essential gear—but it wasn’t until we partnered with them that we understood exactly how this brand is constantly considering kids and their wellbeing…just like moms do. Here’s what we learned:

Their Products are Safe

Everything Stokke manufactures (including high chairs, cribs, strollers and carriers) is not only ethically-made, they are free—across the board—from harmful substances. They all carry the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) certification, meaning they’ve been independently tested and approved for safety.

Children Are At The Forefront of Their Designs

Before Stokke engineers, designers and other experts start working on a new product, they observe and gather insights about children and families, and how the product will be used—including any particular challenges that need to be met or problems that need to be solved. Then, their goal with every product is to stimulate healthy development in kids, from infancy and onward.

They Care About Parents, Too

Well-designed construction? Ergonomic features? Great-looking but warm/kid-friendly Scandinavian design (aka your baby will love it but you won’t want to hide it when you’re having a non-kid gathering)? Check, check, check. Their Sleepi Mini crib is a perfect example of a product designed to make parents lives easier. For one, it can be converted to four different sizes, ranging from a bassinet for a newborn up to a bed for a 10-year-old. It’s super small footprint means that it can easily be wheeled between room to room, (perfect during those early months with 2 naps a day), and takes up little room in a nursery, even when expanded to its full size. Since the mattress is height adjustable, parents don’t have to strain their necks and back when lifting up a smaller baby and don’t have to buy a new crib or bed as baby begins to pull up (which we all know happens in the blink of an eye!).

These Products Last

Stokke isn’t the least expensive option on the marketplace, but these products last through several kids and even generations. They are also sustainable (both in design and materials). For instance, their Tripp Trapp chair is made of wood from self-sustainable European forests and recycled fabrics. This ergonomic seat grows with your child and can be used from infancy to adulthood; in other words, the opposite of the disposable products we as parents quickly cycle through as our kids pass through various developmental stages.

The Designs Are Iconic

We mentioned that these are aesthetically-pleasing pieces…perhaps the most notable being the Tripp Trapp chair. Designed in Norway in 1972, its popularity lead to it being featured in a permanent collection at the MoMa in New York City, as well as London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Not too shabby a resume for a highchair…

These Pieces Will Bring Your Family Closer

All of these carefully designed products, from highchairs to strollers, are meant to quite literally bring your family closer together. For instance, all of their highchairs can literally be brought right up to the table (no more baby floating out in the no man’s land area of your kitchen…). This encourages bonding through eye contact, as well as healthy eating habits. Why is this a priority for Stokke? Babies that have more close interaction with caretakers are happier and healthier, and have the confidence to start exploring their world.

Those Who Can Buy the Best Choose Stokke

Chrissy Teigen, Adam Levine, Beyoncé and the Kardashian clan are all fans of Stokke products. Seriously—if it’s good enough for Beyoncé, it’s good enough for us!
